Description: These historic aerial photographs were taken between 1973 and 1975 for the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) by multiple subcontractors, including: the Aero Service Corporation, the Air Survey Corporation, Berger Associates, Erdman and Anthony Consulting Engineers, L. Robert Kimball Consulting Engineers, Michael Baker Jr., Inc., and Quinn and Associates. These photos were taken in response to Hurricane Agnes, which occurred in June 1972. This collection includes 4,249 photos. Most photos have a scale of 1:12,000 or 1”:1140’. Center point index files were created through a georeferencing process. This collection contains missions/locations from the following counties in Pennsylvania: Lancaster, York, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Perry, Juniata, Mifflin, Huntingdon, Schuylkill, Northumberland, Snyder, Union, Lycoming, Clinton, Montour, Columbia, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wyoming, Bradford, and Tioga. This collection also contains missions/locations from Broome, Tioga, Chemung, Steuben, and Allegany counties in New York and Harford and Cecil counties in Maryland. Some other locations in this collection include: the Susquehanna River, the West Branch Susquehanna River, Three Mile Island, Conowingo Dam, the Wyoming Valley, the Chemung River, the Juniata River, the Canisteo River, and the Lackawanna River. This collection was given to the Donald W. Hamer Center for Maps and Geospatial Information by the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Geological Survey Library. The photos were scanned at 800 dpi on an Epson Expression 11000 scanner by the Donald W. Hamer Center for Maps and Geospatial Information.
